it seems to me that it would be bad to get little shards of glass in your eye that cut your eyeball. but can your eyeballs heal somehow or what? I mean what's the reason that fiberglass is actually safe enough to be sold?

No. Not if you don't mind almost-microscopic sized shards of glass swimming around in your eye, resulting in permanent damage and possbile loss of sight. Then it is just fine.

Wrap around safety goggles are $1.99. Are your eyes worth less than $1.99.
 
ok, look I know it must scratch the surface of your eyeball, but maybe it can heal, and they couldn't possibly sell it if it permanently messes up your sight, because it's really easy to get a little in your eye, even with goggles. I was just installing some with tight goggles and a tiny bit still got in through a crack and got in the corner of my eye.

I would hope that this mythical "they" would have enough respect for my intelligence that they didn't try to protect me from myself. Just about anything sold can kill or injure a person if they use it in a really creatively stupid way. I don't know about you, but I really don't want "them" protecting me.
