This. There is a woman at my job who is pretty obese. Then I find out she is pregnant and I had no idea because she is fat as hell already. I dont want to say to her that I had no idea she was pregnant, the implication is obvious that her pregnancy was unnoticeable in the first place due to her existing weight. Just a congratulations with a smile and move on...

Had a very obese woman at work that went out on maternity leave. This was a huge place with lots of departments interacting with others. She did not work for my department but did work for us from time to time.

So, she gets back to work after the maternity leave and my boss says, "Pam, when are you due to have that baby?' Didn't go over very well to say the least.

Remember that you can encounter those who will wear very revealing shirts, but will personally crucify you with rusty railroad spikes if they catch even the slightest glance.

One of my co-workers started going to my gym (thanks for the referral bonus!) and after a few months it was very clear she was losing weight and really toning out well (mid life crisis, divorced husband, shacked up with biker, new tattoos, the works basically). To not try to sound so creepy I would tell her "The gym is doing good for you, keep it up!" Any other way would make it sound like I'm interested, which, god no.

Just say "something about you changed...whatever it is it agrees with you." if you really want to say something, but you're not friends. If you have to ask though, its probably better not to say anything.
