Is it acceptable for men to wear open toe shoes or sandals at work?

Where I work it is a very casual setting. I can wear blue jeans two to three times a week along with causal business attire. The woman here can also dress very causal including sandals and open toes shoes. I have never seen a man here wear sandals or slip on shoes. I was wondering if anybody else had a causal business attire office and wore sandals without socks to work?
 
I did at my old job before they posted a flier stating no more open toe shoes. You might want to check with your boss first. BTW, aren't you a mechanic? That seems a little dangerous to be doing so 😀

I'd say that applies to the work environment. Outside work, men can wear sandals in warm climates all they want IMO.

Yeah usually only women. I wish we could here, especially on beautiful days like today so I could sit outside with wireless and do some work. But alas, i can't. Okay i'm over it now.

Edit: Yeah meant to say outside work sandals are fine for Men. I wear them all the time.

my gf works at the public library. They had to ban all open toe shoes after a male maintenance worker protested that he was told he could not wear Tevas.....
 
we have an extremely laid back work attire here.
i wear jeans and tennis shoes nearly everyday.
but the personnel policy states no open toed shoes.

for work attire it says 'be presentable and clean' basically.
if im going out to a meeting or something i will wear slacks and a polo type shirt, though.

Our "business casual" dress code disallows open-toed shoes for men except on "casual friday" or other days when they allow casual attire, and even then they have to be "business appropriate" like no flip flops or rainbows.

I think it's bunk. The only time I wear shoes between like March and October is because I have to for work. Unless it's too cold, I'm wearing sandals or barefoot outside of work.

I too am subjected to the "business casual" attire for the first 4 days of the week and than granted the pleasure of dressing down on "casual Friday's" but our casual Friday's attire is limited and does not include any open-toed foot wear.
 
I NEVER wear sandals. Period.

But I did see a guy here at work on Friday wearing sandals. They weren't open toed but they were sandals. Pissed me off. We're a corporate office environment, not the friggin' beach. :disgust:
