Is it a big deal swapping heatsinks on PIII's?

I just got my PIII750 and my Asus CUSL2-C. The only thing is, my Alpha hasn't come in yet. It probably won't arrive until tomorrow. So, is it a big deal swapping heatsinks? I've just got the retail heatsink that came in the box. I know that if I had ordered an Athlon, I wouldn't mess with it until it was ready to be permanently installed. But a PIII is supposed to be stronger. So, what do you think?

The fcpga aren't much more durable than the amd chips but at least the intel reatil hsf is relatively easy to work with. Should be ok if you're careful, getting intel hsf off is harder than putting it on though.

That sucks. I guess I won't mess with it until tomorrow. 🙁 Atleast I'll have something to look forward to while I'm at work.

I just ripped the stock cooler off my 500e, and put a FOP on. Took a little care, but not too hard.

My CPU is on a slocket though, which makes things eaiser because I can take the whole slocket/chip out of the motherboard, making it easier to work with...

First of all, the FCPGA-CPUs have stronger dies than SocketA chips. Even if you "crack" a PIII-core a lot of them would still work while an Athlon or Duron usually wouldn't.
I don't know the Intel HS, so I don't know how hard it will be to remove it but one can't state it's harder to install a HS than removing it or the opposite. It always depends...for example I found it much harder to remove the Global Win FKP32 than installing it while the situation was completely different with a Coolermaster HS. The Alpha PAL6035 I once had, was very easy to work with but the new one has a stronger clip but I'm sure you'll be fine! 🙂
