I somewhat question zhangohn dragging into a Western thread the current and Past History of the Chinese nation.
But still the history of Chinese nation is still as important in world history, compared to "Western history". But still even today, China has little impact on regional Western history.
And even now as Chinese economic power has risen in the past 20 years, China is seemingly Neutral on Israeli Palestinian issues.

I can see how it might seem that way if you leave it to our media to inform you on the matter, but if you bother took look at their voting record at the UN, you'll find that isn't actually the case.

No you don't John. If you look through the UNSC and UNGC resolutions on the issue, you'll find that rather than remaining neutral, China consistently votes against Israel's refusal to respect international law along with the vast majorty of the word. For instance, here is the UNSC vote on "on a durable and fully repected ceasefire and the full withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip" which China voted in favor on along with everyone but the the US.

While China basically votes the same as most of the rest of the world.
Sooner or later China will become a major diplomatic player, just as the USA did some 110 to 120 years ago. But for now, China is basically voting safe regarding Israel.
Now the China is a major economic rising power, sooner or later, IMHO, China will choose to exercise the diplomatic power that always inevitably follows economic power,
but its doubtful that exercise will be in the mid-east.
But in summation, it is hard to see either Kyle or John being wrong when they are basically saying the exact same thing.
In the case of the USA, they burst onto the world diplomatic and military stage during the Spanish American war. But at the time there was no UN type international bodies. Twenty years later the US was perhaps the #1 military power. As for China, they are only slowly arming, where they will be in 20 years is anyone's guess.
But to some extent there is the Eastern mind set. American's play smash mouth football, the Chinese play the game of Go. I fully expect the Go analogy to be not understood by most, but there may be the few who appreciate it.

And now Infohawk really shows why he has no vision. As you somehow assume I welcome the fall of Israel. When we should instead realize that the larger win win goal is to have Israel become an accepted and welcome part of the mid-east. Because the delusion is that over long range time, its absurd to assume that Israel can forever maintain its military hegemony in the mid-east region.
If nothing else, Israeli arrogance makes Israel a magnet for international terrorism. As Israel at the same time becomes the number one destabilizing force in the mid-east, in a very world that is heavily dependent on that mid-east stability.
If you read the pages of Haaretz, many Jews in Israeli agree with me, that the wise thing for Israel to do now, is to help the formation of a Palestinian State.
But point granted, that is not the Israeli pig party settler position, as they think long term Israel can forever pig it all, and in so doing, they bet Israel can retain it all, or lose it all in the process. Just one year ago Israel had some mid-east allies, and now they demand the USA back Israeli to the hilt at the cost of the USA losing all international credibility.
But on that latter point does the Israeli Bozo Netanyuhu strategy ball game hinges on. If the US merely abstains, the Bozo Netanyuhu stupidity is total toast.
