There was so much talk about how iOS 7 was a regression in design. What do you think now that it's grown on you?

The default look is terrible. Once you get a solid dark background on the homescreen it looks a lot better. I personally am not a fan of the flat design though.

i was on ios 6 on my ip4 for the longest time.

after having my ip6 now and having to use ios8 (which is similar graphically to ios7) i like it MUCH better than ios6. previously though, before i really used it, i was indifferent about it. but it looks much cleaner for sure and its much speedier, but i know a lot of that is my phone too. but it just feels so fluid and smooth, more so than ios6 was, which was smoother and fluid in it's own right.

My problem with iOS7 is all of the bright colors on light backgrounds. It almost gives me a headache just looking at the settings page screenshot. iOS6 and earlier looked nice and the choice of darker colors and a more conservative pallet was much easier on the eyes.

My 9 year old daughter on the other hand thinks all the pastels and bright colors are cool.

iOS 6 is still ugly. iOS 7/8 is much better. Not a fan of extensive skeuomorphism, which made iOS/OSX look like it was made for grandmas. 🙂 It still is in a way, but not as much.

While I like 7 more than 6, I hate the largeness/thinness of the icons. Especially phone and AppStore. I wish they had made them softer.

I like iOS 7. Somehow my mind is able ignore those terrible transparency effects.

I also appreciate the simplicity of a flat-designed UI. I never liked shadows, gradients, shading, etc on any OS, which I think is just gimmicky bullshit.

I thought 7 looked ugly when it first came out, but now I can't really decide if 6 or 7 looks better. Of course, I have to use 7 with the bold fonts.

It's definitely not as nice as iOS 6 or Android, but they improved it at least in iOS 8 enough to tolerate it. Turning on reduce motion is essential.
