that i can use ftp to download and upload content outside of network (access server uploading , delete stuff at home)
 
Hardware and software wise, yes.

Intranet is generaly a internal network for you company, shcool, etc. (Private)

Internet is the, well, internet. world wide and beyond if need be. (Public)
