eh .. i don't think intelligence is all that important. I fully understand the denotation of the word. But it's always been used as a marker to measure someones worth against another, pretty much as an oppresional term. So, throughout time, the terms connotation has changed alot.

Oh man, reasoning like that is what caused some ultra-liberal schools to ban playing tag on the playground. They say it's too competitive and makes slower kids feel like losers.

Give me a F'in break.

Hehe, amnesiac suggested that people can be intelligent and sort of stupid at the same time so I tried to throw in a bit of both.

I don't understand. I said that people use intelligence to make others feel small and worthless. That equals 'ultra-liberals' to ban playing tag? But i do understand and notice statements full of fallacy. Ad hominem.

edit - i read your post again. "they say it's too competitive and makes slower kids feel like losers." Again, you point the blame on ultra-liberals, but can you remind me which state this was in? Also, anything competitive is gonna make someone feel like a loser. When ever this article you reference came out, I'm sure the people came out in droves claiming EXTREME stupidity. It is stupid.

But to say that people use intelligence to hold down other people is like banning tag doesn't make sense.

Some are gifted because they learn fast due to good memory, while others are too slow, and that's a huge differences. lets say P100 vs P4 2ghz lol, something that took someone a few minute may take them weeks or even months to get it right, and that's sad.

It just seems that we glorify intelligence when there are many other factors which define a human being.

I agree. Wisdom completely outweighs intelligence.

There are a lot of "smart" people out there that just have no clue. Take the liberals for example...
