Is IE8 not trustable, or is Firefox 4.x buggy?

I have Firefox 4.0beta3 installed in Win7 HP 64-bit, and set as my default browser.

I downloaded the ISO of MS Visual Studio Express 2010 (free from MS), and installed VC++. You have to register it within 30 days, in order to continue using it. There is a menu option to register it, which goes to an MS web page.

Using Firefox 4.x, when I click that link, I get a page that says the connection is not trusted, and prompts me to create an exception, if I tell it to continue.

Starting up IE8, and telling it to make itself the default browser, then clicking that link in VC++, loads up a page, HTTPS, and doesn't say anything about the connection being untrusted.

Does IE8 load untrusted connections, without issuing a proper warning? This could be serious, millions of people use it every day.

I'm not talking about MS's express web site where you download the tools, I'm talking about the link that clicking on the "Register" menu item in the software itself redirects.
