I subscribed for the AT membership and received two emails. One telling me that they are charging me $12USD for the membership, and then, another email:

Ok what the hell?! A buck is no big deal but this really smells like a scam. International Foundation for Children? Does this even exist?

I got that as well. Honestly it is possible they somehow snuck this in during the charge process without my noticing. I do not mind giving to this charity but I was a bit peeved that it was done without an affirmative action on my part.

If I'm correct, when you sign up, there is a check box option to donate 1$ to the charity. That box is checked by default, you have to un-check it if you do not want to donate.

Azreale, you are correct.
Just subscribed two hours ago. I thought that was a little deceptive too.:|

I just signed up a few minutes ago and noticed that the checkbox for the $1 donation was checked by default. Probably what the charge is for.

Talk about a cash cow!

Think about how many regular peeps will be "donating" a buck to this charity if even computer savvy ATOT users got burned! :Q

<< I thought that was a little deceptive too.:| >>

I thought it was extremely deceptive. Small checkbox with small print, buried at the bottom of the page. Luckily I caught it, but had I not, I'd be complaining to their customer service department as I believe I was forced into making a donation that I didn't want to.

I guess you guys should slow down and READ everything before submitting info. 🙂

This was brought up about a month ago in Forum Issues but the update simply said that Anand would be made aware.

The thread

Looks like it's either still in decision limbo, or fell on deaf ears. 🙁

<< I guess you guys should slow down and READ everything before submitting info. 🙂 >>

Reading is illegal John.

Yeah I saw that check-box when I subscribe too, so I un-checked it... I didnt know so many ppl would get burned by it...

This shows how many ppl do not read everything before they submit...

>>it isn't a scam its something you needed to uncheck to not give

>>I guess you guys should slow down and READ everything before submitting info. 🙂

it is a scam,

if I was charging something to billybobs porn I would agree that I should
be very alert and watch for fraud..

I have been using Anands site for many years, and I thought there was
some degree of trust, there still is a degree of trust..

now it is ZERO(0) degrees ... and it is not much of a leap to make if you
cant trust him with $1 then you sure cant trust anything he says or does
or reviews

..Dale
