There are concerns about her parents links to the MB and other radical groups. Her mother has links to the MB.

If she is linked to them then she could use this to push for certain policies that are supported by the MB. It also explains why she stayed with weiner after what he has done.

Whatever the connections of her family, the woman married a pro-Israel American Jew, and is not a particularly observant Muslim (no head scarf). The odds of her being directly connected to the Muslim Brotherhood are slim. If her family really are conservative Muslims, I can't imagine she gets along with them well.
