Is hot bright weather correlated with increase in headaches?

The last two days have been bright and sunny... I've been out and about enjoying these fine days. Both yesterday and today I started getting these headaches that seemed to originate from my neck and moved to the back of me head! Other than these two, the last time I've had a headache was over a month ago!

Should I look into this further or is this a common occurence?

Mogwai???

joohang - Could be... I am pretty religuous when it comes to being hydrated though...

I also normally have coffee everyday... i haven't had coffee (or anything caffeinated) since Saturday morning. I hear caffeince deprevation can cause headaches.

Caffeine withdrawl will incapacitate you. Beware... no cold turkey if you have a lot on a regular basis -- ween yourself off of it.

As for Mogwai, I was wondering if you shouldn't be fed after midnight or come in contact with water. Does that help? 😉

caffeine withdrawal is a common cause of headaches, which is why excedrin has caffeine in it.

ggavinmoss - I usually only have 1 coffee a day (between 9-12) Could it still be caffeince depreviation? You've confused me with all of this Mogwai stuff 🙂

aphexII - In Vancouver, I think it is safe to say that bright is a special weather anomoly 😛

The mogwai reference was to Gremlins -- the movie. Gizmo wasn't supposed to be fed after midnight or exposed to water. And he hated BRIGHT LIGHTS.

The amt of coffee you're having doesn't sound it warrants headaches. Any dizziness or blackouts?

Ahh, Gremlins 🙂, haven't seen that in 15 years 🙂

ggavinmoss - No dizziness or blackouts... I took some ibeprofen (sp?) when I first posted this and I feel fine now. I guess this happening two days isn't significant enough for it to be looked into further... If I do notice a trend though I will look into it.

Not quite. Excedrin has caffeine because it constricts blood vessels in the brain relieving pressure in your head.

ibuprofein 🙂

i drank LOTS of pop...then went cold turkey to orange juice. I was a miserable brat for three days at work and home. I was a classic case of male PMS.

Have you been going in and out of heavily air conditioned buildings lately?

Going in and out of really cold AC'd buildings and really hot, muggy, weather really messes with my sinuses and can give me killer headaches.

Let me describe both occasions when I got these headaches :

Day 1 :

Drove downtown to a record shop... bought some CDs and walked on the beach for about half an hour. At some pizza and drank some water and the head ache started
shortly after getting into my truck.

Day 2 :

Got up early went for a 3 hour bike ride. Got home and mowed the lawn. I am drink mucho water as well! Had a shower and got into my truck to go to the computer book store. Headache occured on my way back home in my truck.

So both times I was in my truck... I don't have AC and it was really hot in there. Perhaps my driving posture is putting a kink in my neck? I don't drive much often since I take transit to work during the week.

Finally who has the same problems I do!!

This used to happen to me a lot when I lived in Africa. I was about 13 at the time. Whenever I was out in the sun I would get headaches.

It's because of these two things:
- acidity
- dehydration

Make sure you have a big breakfast in the morning before you leave for outside! If you don't have a lot of food in your stomach, you'll get acidity and you'll get a headache. Also, make sure you drink lots and lots of water. I'm talking about drinking a glass of water every hour or so! These two things seriously helped me out. I used to get headaches almost everyday for 3 or 4 months. I was a lazy bastard who refused to eat...eventually I smartened up.

btw, this also happens over here in Canada sometimes too (in the summer). Also, another simpler cause would be heatstroke..but I don't think there is much you can do about that then stay in the shade.

btw, just remembered something..do you have sensitive eyes? wear sunglasses when your in the sun, that may help since do wouldn't strain your eyes (or squint) so much.

Hope this helps...I have no medical background (I'm only 18), but I suffered with headaches quite a bit.

mAdD INDIAN - I think you hit the nail on the head! I have very small breakfasts! Usually a couple hours after I get up. I drink lots of water, so I don't think that was it.
I have very sensitive eyes... They used to be worse but they are better now. I always wear sunglasses, otherwise my eyes hurt so much I can't walk! My eyes turn blue when I am outside and they are green when inside...

Try eating heavier breakfasts now..and see the results..hopefully they will work in your favor.
