I liked Family Man also, but the best Christmas movie ever is a type of movie you're going to watch every Christmas. So many things in Christmas Vacation ring true of the holiday season that I watch it almost every year and that makes it the "best Christmas movie ever" at least in my ranking. Plus I've been inspired by Griswald and now go crazy with the Christmas lights (they are synced to music this year also).

Silent Night, Deadly Night

After his parents are murdered, a young tormented teenager goes on a murderous rampage dressed as Santa, due to his stay at an orphanage were he was abused by the Mother Superior.

/edit: nah she wasn't that hot and they're divorced. good.

Correction: he's now engaged to Mila Kunis, the smoking-hot one from That 70s Show.

What a waste  She lost serious points for this.

Die Hard

It just never gets its due. I don't know about you, but I get a little misty when Hans falls to his death.

It never gets mentioned because people rarely start 'Favorite Thanksgiving Movie' threads, but IMO, Planes, Trains and Automobiles is fantastic.

Thanksgiving is kind of like the kickoff to the Christmas holiday season anyway, so I kind of consider it of the same general ilk. John Candy at his lovable best (and he had a lot of lovable roles.)
