If I want to make and sell bar-b-que pits from my house, and make just enough money to pay my bills, shouldn't that be enough to fill the work obligation?

That just means that making BBQ pits is your job. Sounds like it fills that made up obligation.

The linked article in the opening post is referring to young adults in their 20s and I think up to around 32 years old.

Not married, no kids, so what obligation do they have to enter the workforce?

There was another article I read a couple of days ago about how millennials are having problems adjusting to real life. The helicopter parents have spoiled kids to someone doing everything for them.

EDIT

Found the article - http://www.slate.com/articles/healt...ents_are_college_students_bigger_problem.html

Do you think their parents have an obligation to support them into their adult years, or should the youth have an obligation to support themselves?

Myself, I believe that once you're done with high school...or a bachelor's degree, your parents' obligation to support you is over. If you wish to continue your education beyond that point, it's up to you to support yourself...and if you opt to stop schooling...it's up to you to support yourself.

Get the FUCK out of your parents' basement...get out and experience the world...for all its good and bad. No one ever promised you life would be easy.
