Is hitting the reset button on every bootup bad for my computer?

I have an OC'd P4 1.6A on an Abit TH7II and it refuses to cold boot (everyone with an OC'd Th7II has this same problem), so I always hit the reset button some time during bootup (usually when it's checking the ram). So far I haven't had any problems, but I'm afraid I'm doing something horrible to my computer by resetting it so much. What sort of potential problems do you see if I continue to do this? When (if any) is the best time during bootup to hit the reset button?

Its probably not too good - you should check the cables plugged into the mobo from the case to make sure they are ok. Perhaps there are some memory options in the BIOS you could change...

What I would really worry about is that the HDD are spinning and it could cause problems as bad as lost data on it.

Ever hear the term "HEAD CRASH" relating to a hard drive failure. I don't think OC your computer to the point of it not properly booting is worth it (nor the cost of replacing hard drives) let alone I can't believe it plays games without crashing either. FYI: Your hard drive is just starting to spin up when the RAM is being checked so it is not a good idea to hit the reset button here either.

The Abit board has a lower voltage than others. It has to be able to POSt at default 1.5v and then can use what is set in the bios. Just because it can't post at 1.5 doesn't mean it can't be stable at that speed at 1.7. I say that this can be bad for your system hitting the reset button so much. You can do a couple of things. You can lower the overclock so it posts and boots correctly OR you can try
this. The mod works great, just don't do something crazy and set it 1.85!
