Hitachis are excellent drives. If you look at the benchmarks at storagereview.com, you will see that the SATA 7K250 Hitachi models from 80Gig and up are VERY fast, and in some cases only second to a Raptor.
Sorry ChicagoPCGuy, at storagereview.com, I could not find the benchmark for Hitachi 160Gb PATA. I can only do a head to head comparison on the 7k250 they listed which is the SATA version and the result against Seagate Barracuda 160Gb PATA shows the Hitachi is much faster (given it's SATA) but the Seagate is much quieter and cooler.
What do you guys think? Keep the Seagate for it's reliability or the Hitachi for it's possible speed performance advantage? Thanks!
