Is Hijackthis outdated?

So I was told on another forum that Hijackthis was outdated and isn't used anymore. Yet this site still exists. http://www.hijackthis.de/en

To me it's another tool to help get rid of browser hijacks, etc.

So do you think Hijackthis is outdated? This guy told me that OTL is what you use now. I tried OTL and I got a huge azz log file and I had no idea what to make of it.
 
No way, it is one of my level 2 tools for deeply inspecting elements that perhaps other scanners have left behind and there are unexplainable remaining symptoms of infection or reinfection. It takes more scrutiny than other tools because if you simply highlight everything and remove it all, you are going to have problems. It is almost like an automated Regedit that looks for specific areas that malware most often hides. I have no experience with OTL so I can't say on that one.
