Is Heroes worth catching up on?

Since school is done I'm gonna have a bit more free time for a while and was thinking of hitting up a new series. Was thinking watching the first season of Heroes and was just wondering if it's decent, or has just been overhyped, or if anybody had a better idea for a series.

No. FIrst season was AMAZING. Second season was shit, and since then there'll be 1 or 2 decent episodes followed by 3 or 4 of shit. "OOOH sylars good...now he's bad..now he's good....ooh clair is acting angsty....oh more convoluted plot twists'. In case you can't tell, I'm very bitter. This show should've stopped after 1 season. It would've been one of my favorites ever had it.

The first season was great. Two episodes into the second season I quit watching because it was crap. I never went back to it and I'm glad I made that decision.

ETA - If you're looking for a show to watch, try Mad Men, Dexter, or Breaking Bad.

Absolute fucking garbage. It still pisses me off today how utterly gripping first 8 episodes of season 1 was then it was absolutely butchered it.

They built it up soooo much with future Hiro visiting with a pimp sword, everyone collectively coming around etc.. then it became utter shit. You could painfully see writers were pulling shit out of their ass each week.

Terrible.

I made it through this season but it was hard. After the finale, I deleted the season pass from my DVR.

This poster is wise and it's exactly what I did.

It sucks there won't be any new episodes on until 2010, but my friends and I have enjoyed the Showtime series, "The United States of Tara" - it is pretty damn good.

I forgot about this one. A buddy was talking pretty highly of it a while back and I never checked it out. Might have to now.

I watch it on and off. Season 2 was really bad, arguably because of the writers guild strike though. After the ending in season 3, I need to see how it ends.

Season 1 is well worth watching. Also, if you haven't, watch Battlestar Galactica.

I still like the show, but this really sums it up. I can watch Season 1 over and over. It was wonderful, the show has really declined since.

It's the fucking promise the show had. This was a really neat show that actually had me hooked. I do not watch television but for about 2-3 hours a week ( non-sports anyway) and this show had it going on. Then they got stupid, plots starting up and never tying up loose ends, endless parade of characters you could seriously give a shit less about, let alone enjoy their powers ( punch man anyone?) It got to the point that I was starting to wonder if the people without powers were actually in the minority on the show. I have stuck it out because my wife and watch absolutely nothing on TV together except Heroes and I will try to watch the next season, but I will probably not last through it.

Damn show had such a great beginning, then it went all to fuck. Very very quickly.

This. And yet you try to stick it out just one more episode and you get all pissed off that it sucked. But maybe the next one will be the one...or the next one.

Seriously, has there ever been a show that keeps people watching in hopes of a turnaround instead of a reacharound?
