or can you alter your height by what you consume while you're still under 18?

Height is determined when you are conceived....it is a genetic trait.

but if you eat sh1t you won't attain that height ;)

OK smartass, let me clarify......genetics sets the max and your behavior determines whether or not you attain it.

hmmm, i was always lead to believe a RANGE Of heights was predetermined, not a specific height.

genetics says i could have been anywhere between 5'6" to 6'1"

i'm 5'11" so i guess i did ok, (btw the two heights above are just made up by me to illustrate a point)

Helps to eat more chicken if you want to be taller... most of it in the US is loaded with growth hormones.

Nutrition bolsters the effect of what your genetics already dictate.
In other words, I could have the genetic potential of being 6'10", but if I don't eat correctly and keep myself in a fit condition to grow, it won't happen. Look at your relatives, if they are tall, you have the potential too more than likely. Your nuclear family is probably the best indicator unless your parents went through rough times as kids and were malnourished back then.

Genetics and diet both influence height. Factors like HGH being available to people who need it and potential hormone irregularities mean there is no set height range for anyone when they are born.

An important factor most people fail to consider is prenatal care. That can have a huge affect on not only height, but physical and mental development as a whole. You could say it affects your potential height before you are born, but its not due to genetics.
