Is Hawaii paradise all the time?

L

Lola

I wanna be an ATOTer from hawaii.
I hate this state. :(

It is beautiful, but i am sure those living there have their own "issues" with living in paradise.

Don't think so. Not even Tsunami. Somebody told me the state of Hawaii owns the land your property sits on and that the state will take it back in about 75 years. Just something I remember off the top of my head.

I've been told it rains A LOT during the winter. Although, my wife and I went in May and it was awesome so I can't verify.

Long term leases are not unknown there. I believe that the land which the Mauna Kea hotel is built on is actually a 99 year lease from Parker Ranch.

You're lucky you live out west, it's a 12 hour journey from the east coast.

I just moved from hawaii. Lived there the past 3-4 years.

And hell no, its not paradise. Its a nice place for a vacation, but living there sucks (unless you live in Hawaii Kai and have a crap load of money).
Most areas in hawaii have crime problems like you would see in the mainland, and generally people aren't any more friendly than anywhere else. In fact, if your white (haole), then there are quite a few local people who wil be more inclined to give you problems. I would highly recommend it for a place to visit for 2 weeks, but to live there...hell no. At least I wouldn't.

Hawaii is pretty nice. All my relatives live there, so I get to visit for free. But I could never live there. I mean there's only so much to do on an island.

I've lived there and vacationed there. When I vacationed there it was great so I decided to find a job and move there. When I finally moved there, things weren't as special like it was when I was on vacation. I moved away and have since vacationed there again and have found the magic of the islands that I didn't get when I lived there. It's a great place to visit, but not to live if you are used to the mainland.
Island fever will catch up to you quick.

I vacationed there during the off season and found that the weather is great all year round. Because of the trade winds they don't get the humidity we get in the northeast, nor the cold. It is always comfortable. The lowest temp ever recorded in Hawaii was 29 F and that was on a mountain. If I was homeless, I would want to be homeless there.

Yes, yes it is.

It's expensive as hell though.

Edit-I prefer San Diego though. Hawaii is nice to visit but I wouldn't want to live there.
