Is GTX 870M or Raedon R9 M290X better for new laptop?

nVIDIA GeForce GTX 870M?

OR pay $75 more for
AMD Raedon R9 M290X ?

You'll get more out of the GeForce GTX 870M.

They're pretty much the same speed, the 870m might be a tiny bit faster. But Nvidia's mobile support is light years better than AMD when it comes to GPU's. Optimus works much better than enduro and Nvidia updates their mobile drivers simultaneously with their desktop drivers. Get the 870m.

Never pick AMD for a gaming laptop if you can avoid it. (Unless the Tonga rumors prove to be true)

For comparison simply restrict to desired models.

It looks like the 870 is a little faster. That said Nvidia for notebooks, their drivers are that much better.
