I am curious about this one. Is Global Warming a theory? I am pretty sure it is, most people I talk to say it is. And I don't mean "global warming", I am pretty sure it's been proven that the temperature rises every year (right?), but I mean, weather you belive it or now, technically is "Global Warming" a fact or theory?

Temperature doesn't rise every year, as there are plenty of other factors that can change global temperature both man made and natural. But yes man made global warming is a fact, it is also a scientific theory.
 
Global warming is a fact, the debate is on who or what is causing it. Is it being caused by man or is it the natural cycle of the earth?
 
Global warming is a fact, in that we can measure average global temperatures and confidently say whether the number is going up or down. Anthropogenic global warming is a theory, and one that is still the measure of no small amount of debate.
 
Any scientific explanation regarding global warming, no matter how complete and supported by evidence it is, would always be a theory wouldn't it? Everyone believing that explanation wouldn't have any bearing on it's status as a theory either. What I don't understand is why that matters to anyone. A good theory is as believable as anything in life can be.
 
Gravity is a theory. I don't see you claiming that discredits it.

The idea that humans are causing global warming is as deniable of a theory as gravity is.
 
It's fact. Leading global warming researcher, Dr. James Hanesen, predicted back in 1988 that by 2028 Manhattan's West Side Highway will be underwater. That's only in fifteen years from now!

In 2007, Al Gore predicted all arctic ice will be gone by 2014. That's less than a friggin' year away!

The only people not frightened are those not easily frightenable. They are part of the problem!

Well, Gravity is a theory. Evolution is a theory, so is Global Warming.

This means they are all part of this Universe and this Earth, and are very much true.
 
I hate to be the one to tell everyone, but we are all being sucked into the sun, and we only have a few million years to stop it!
 
No, it's an opinion. We don't have the proper equipment to actually measure it. Anybody who says differently is a liar or a communist.
 
Global Warming and Global Cooling are both facts and have occurred thousands if not millions of times during the Earth's history.

Actually, satellites can measure the rate the Earth is absorbing energy from the sun, and the rate at which the Earth is radiating energy.
