Is getting a 256GB SSD for game installations worth the extra price & less space?

I had an 8 track in my first car and can remember it changing tracks right in the middle of a song with a loud clack. I can also remember when having a cassette deck was the shiznit. Am I telling on myself?

What I do is have a 128GB M4 SSD for OS and games I play most often. The rest of my games are on a 1TB HDD with an 64GB M4 SSD as cache.

Speedy system all around with large storage.

I'm about to replace my 600gb velociraptor with a ssd. While its the fastest spinner I've got it pales in comparison to any ssd. I currently have my itunes library on it with well over 1200 albums on it and it's choking trying to keep up.

I don't see any difference in games with an SSD, but loading maps is so much faster. Watching that loading indicator fly across the screen versus slowly creeping along is worth the additional cost to by a larger SSD drive.
I keep my most often played games on the SSD, and others on a regular HDD. STEAM is finally with the program allowing multiple install locations, so all is right with the world.

I would hazard to guess that twisted sits,er was not on an 8 track. You young people have never used an 8 track have you?

That said, I have a new velociraptor for all my games. I the use steam mover to move the games I am playing to an SSD. It gives me performance and the 400 of storage necessary for all the steam nonsense I have without needing a really expensive SSD.
