I'm just a very casual fan of his music. He's probably the only male country singer that I can tolerate listening to. And as a part of my casual fan-status, I have no idea what he's up to. Is he retired? Super-long break?

Last I heard he had retired, but you know how retirement in the music biz goes.... (Ozzy, Ki$$, Eagles, do I need to go on?)

"Party on Garth" (okay out of my system)

Maybe he's still running around calling himself Chris Gaines.

He is retired. His family life suffered a lot while he was touring and doing the music thing. He realized that he was missing his kids growing up and wanted to spend time with them.

He bought a very substantial amount of land for a very substantial price not too far from my house, and he often eats at one of the small local breakfast places. He's very friendly, and he'll generally walk up and start talking to someone.

It's refreshing that he didn't follow the lead of other fscktard Country Singers like Toby Kieth jumping on the Patriotic Bandwagon after 9/11 to cash in.

I hear he is a really nice down to Earth person but as for his music I think Country is pure sh!t so I wouldn't miss him in that regard. He definitely doesn't need anymore money, that's for sure.

That was Toby's gig well before 9/11 though. It's not as though he went and re-invented himself after that to chase after monetary gain. Toby is just Toby and he'd have the same message in his songs regardless of the political climate. Now, I don't deny that the current social climate has had a positive influence on Toby's album sales, but your accusation that he's jumping on a bandwagon and being misleading about himself just don't fit with the facts.

He did that for a movie that never came out.

Don't be jealous. He has more money than all of us combined :D

I bet the only reason they came out of retirement was because they pissed all their money away ;). I doubt Garth would have that same problem.
