Sure it wasn't Texas Hold'em?
I heard Judas went all in with pocket aces, Jesus caught a king on the river and took the pot. The rest is history

If you're Jewish:

1. You shall not worship any other god but YHWH.
2. You shall not make a graven image.
3. You shall not take the name of YHWH in vain.
4. You shall not break the Sabbath.
5. You shall not dishonor your parents.
6. You shall not murder.
7. You shall not commit adultery
8. You shall not steal.
9. You shall not commit perjury.
10. You shall not covet.

If you're Christian add (This was the best "list" I could find):

11. Love God
12. Love People

So there you go, you're in the clear. 😉

I don't know whether it was outright stated in the bible or not, but I think if it done in excess or if it starts becoming a big part in your life then yes?

It's only a sin if you don't give 10% of your take to the church 😉

Let's see, if I lose $5000 a year, that means the church owes me... the REAL reason some churches don't like gambling is it may qualify as an income-reducing tithes deduction 😉

I don't think it's stated specifically in the bible...but if gambling becomes something that controls you, well, then that's bad.

Same w/ drinking. I don't think it's explicitly stated that Christians cannot drink, but once the body loses control, then it becomes a sin.

LOL

According to the Bible (which the zealots believe absolutely), there apparently was some gaming done in the temples when Jesus showed up.

He threw a fit (to praphase).

Therefore the zealot logic is that if Jesus did not like it, then it must be wrong.

I don't think it's a sin, and I would think you would be hard pressed to find many Christians who think it is. C'mon this is the group that plays dollar bingo every Wednesday. In fact, in most states bingo is legal if played in a church. go figure.

Well, they were doing it in his father's house and not treating it like a holy place. Basically they were worshipping money/fun before God, which falls under the 1st commandment, hence Jesus's justified anger or "fit" as you put it.

Off topic: My grandmother is a strict 1st Baptist and they don't believe in drinking alcohol. I don't think drinking to excess often is a good thing, but even Jesus drank wine (dinner, gatherings, etc.) throughout his life and at the last supper, so I never have gotten where the no drinking policy of Baptists comes from.

Let me get this right in my own mind. If you put one penny in a slot machine you go to the same hell as a multiple murderer?

Bleep

That's dante's own interpretation. The bible does not talk about levels of hell. And i dont think dante stayed in hell.

It seems (as per about.com) that some people interpret gambling as unfairly gaining at the expense of others, which is considered a sin. But the more common belief is that gambling in excess is a sin.

Then there's the islamic faith which is much more strict.

The only example of gambling in the Bible that I know is the Roman soldiers gamling for Jesus' robe. I don't think he condemned gambling.
