Is Fox News "Fair and Balanced?"

I know a lot of people around here are big fans of the Fox News Network, which touts itself as "Fair and Balanced" and uses slogans such as "we report, you decide." At the same time, sources such as CNN and the big 3 contain a liberal bias. So is Fox News fair??
I think this article might convince some people otherwise:
FAIR report

I'm wondering what some of you Fox News fans think of this article. Completely biased and wrong??
I personally believe this piece highlights what myself and many people have seen for a long time: that you have to be kidding yourself to think that Fox News is not-biased, and that it is the most glaring example of media bias out there.

Fox is extremely Biased but the make it so obvious that you would have to be a Moron not to think they are thus offsetting the fact that they are....or something like that:)

Fox news without a doubt has a conservative tilt, there is no question of that. But I do find it better balanced than CNNs strong liberal tilt. CNN is currently getting its tail kicked for a reason.

I agree with you completely. But I know people who honestly think that Fox News is the most unbiased source of information. Fox News is an island of objectivity in a sea of "liberal media." I know there are people here who enjoy Fox News, and I want their reactions....

Fox news is a joke...it doesn't even seem like "news" but more like commentary on every single item. I don't see how people can view Fox News seriously. Its owed by Murdock after all, and he is the king of tabloids. If you want "Fair and Balanced" news, watch cnn, or msnbc instead.

100% biased. UK BBC News is probably the most balanced I have seen.

So a program like Crossfire is more tilted towards the left than Hannity and Colmes is tilted to the right???

LOL, CNN. CNN is horribly biased. MSNBC seems pretty good to me, but CNN is a joke. Arn't they the ones who defended the terrorists after 9/11 and called them patriots and praised the terrorists for their courage?

I seriously doubt that.

No way. A bunch of self-righteous asses if you ask me.

The most important news, in their collective opinion, is that they're reporting the news.

Yawn.

I watch Hannity and Colmes so I can see how low republicans can sink on the moral scale everyday.

Yes i think so. Carvelle is worse about cutting off the conservative speakers than hannity is about cutting off liberal opinion. The conservative host of crossfire is clearly no match for Carvelle. I find Colmes to be more of match to Hannity, than the pair on cross fire.

Well I feel that any of the big 3 have balanced news (i.e. if it is just news at the top 5 minutes of the hour) but the shows Dan Abrams, Lou Dobbs, and Bill O'Reilly in particular are all biased since that's what people want. They want to listen to those with opinions. If they just gave news with no tilt (tilt such as giving people their own talk/interview shows) it would be much like C-SPAN. But as some have said, I don't believe overall any of the news channels are balanced, as each has its own quirks.

(I do think that FNN has a conservative leaning)

Check out this cartoon I found on the net.

If a network reflects your views then it is fair and balanced. You mean you dont have fair views? Balanced opinions? Of course you do. It's the OTHER guy that is biased. :p

BBC news is far more biased than any American news I've seen. They refuse to identify Islamic terrorists as what they are. They call them militants, and some of the Arabic journalists even refer to the terrorists as "freedom fighters." They compare the terrorists to such humanitarians as Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The last time I checked, those great men never encouraged the slaughter of civilians to further their cause. MSNBC, CNN, and Fox News may be biased, but at least they refuse to place the terrorists among the great leaders of our time. While the conditions that are imposed upon the Palestinians are the fault of the Israeli government, the are also the fault of their neighboring Arab nations, who have refused the Palestinians and sit atop wealth while their brethren suffer. Rather than identifying the corruption in their own governments, they simply blame the Israelis, who are successful. Let's not forget the fact that many Muslims in the region have nothing but disdain and hatred for all Jews. No one claims that Israel is innocent, but it is ridiculous to agree that the very people who murder innocent men, women, and children can be labeled "freedom fighters." The BBC continues to paint one side of the picture while neglecting another - much like the European press. One only needs to read the Australian, French, German, UK, and Belgium papers to see the obvious bias. Neither side is innocent, so a fair portrayal of the events is all I ask for.

Lets make it simple. What network, air or cable, does not have an agenda ? And, what networks do not claim to be fair and balanced in some way shape or form even without using those exact words.

News reporting is gone forever. Commentary, propaganda and total sh!t is what you get.

Of course, the average ignorant moron doesn't want news because they would have to form their own opinion based on fact regarding what is going on in the world.

It is much simpler to tune in to a network that reports with your bias and just agree then grab another beer. Then you can flip to a channel with a different bias and b!tch to no end about how they have slanted reporting.

Then you can start a thread on ATOT about it.
