have you used maxthon? surfing is faster, adhunter does a way better job, you're not forced to save exe's opposed to saving to temp internet files and running, tabs are easier to use and customize, you have soo many options to customize maxthon, and more functionality (like the boss key and cascading).

firefox might be able to do some of these, but can it be done easily also? like just from their options?

Firefox will NEVER implement ActiveX.. that's for sure. Anything that uses the IE engine sucks IMO!

You come to Software forum asking if Firefox is better than IE and 90% of the answers will be yes. Come over to Off Topic and the ratio will change :D

I like firefox, but over time it always seems to eat up much more memory than other proggies. Like there's a leak somewhere or it's not releasing it.

Well, it'd be foolish to ask for any kind of advice on technical matters in OT anyway ;)

I tried FireFox, and was unable to duplicate the fonts and views and most important to me the accessability options in IE. Im sure there are work arounds but it was very easy for me to install and use Maxthon as an alternative. With Maxthon I get tabbed browsing which uses far less resources with multiple windows opened. Im sure it isnt as light on resources or as secure but for one who wants a happy medium Maxthon is a welcome improvement. I am using it with SP1 and XP Pro.

With Maxthon can you ahve multiple tabs opened and then once you exit and open Maxthon again will those tabs still be there? If that is true I may give it a try. That is one of my favorite feutres in Opera because I could have all my favorite sites open and then turn off my PC and then the next day I trun it on and open Opera and all my favorite sites are all in their own tabs just like before i exited Opera.

Yes, it has an option on startup that you check off to "resume last visited pages"

Thanks. I just installed it and it does seem liek a good browser. I do like that it uses half the recources Opera uses. The only thing I do not like is that it is based on IE

I can appreciate that, but personally I havent had any real gripes about IE except for the resources it uses in multiple windows and I think maxthon just makes it a much more complete browser without having to run SP2. I run on a router with hardware firewall and honestly have never had to deal with security issues in all these years. Maybe Im just lucky.. ;)

After going through alot of options in Macthon I have realized it is in fact a real good browser. I may stick with using it but I have used Opera for the longest time. You cna also easily disabvle many of the things that are security threats in IE with ease with Maxthon so I don't think i should haver any security problems

I have nothing against open source stuff, and I say use what you are comfortable with. :) I have a sensitive pair of eyes because I have put them through a lot of abuse (and Im almost 50 :Q ) so I MUST have the accessability options and font settings that I cant seem to find in other apps, Especially using this 2001fp flat panel after using CRT for so many years. FireFox was too much like Netscape and I just never could be comfortable with Netscape. I just suggested Maxthon to anyone who might want to give it a try, who mainly want to keep the best in IE and improve on it. I havent tried Opera as of yet..
