Is "FireFly" worth it for $35?

The complete Firefly series is on DVD. I liked it, but because FOX screwed it up, it got canceled.

The DVD includes the remaining unaired episodes. Just wondering if it's worth $35? (it's too much of a hassle to d/l all of them.)

On a parallel note, are they doing the same for John Doe? I was so pissed when they cancelled that show after such a cliffhanger season finale.

I thought firefly was alright, kinda cliche and predictable, but John Doe was fantastic, one of Fox's best efforts IMO. Too bad the ratings weren't high enough.

I only watched part of "The Train Job" on Fox and gave up, thinking it was a complete waste of time. Then my brother and a friend both raved about the DVDs so I got disc 1 from netfilx and was hooked.

The show is so much better watching it in sequence, starting with the (unaired until later) pilot that introduces and sets up the characters. Aside from skipping crucial character development, Fox also screwed up the continuity on TV by scrambling the order and skipping episodes entirely. Watched in order the writing is grown-up and shows the same sharp wit as in the better episodes of Angel and Buffy.

So I'd vote yes. I haven't seen the bonus materials on the last disc yet, but my brother said they were also worth watching.

The DVD set has the correct order, fox scrambled the order on TV and skipped some episodes.

i have the DVD set...i really enjoy the show....it's well acted and directed, creative, and i enjoyed it a lot.

i bought the DVD because i heard about the show last year, but i could never find the time to watch the show...and before I knew it, it was cancelled, so i bought it at amazon.com out of impulse....

i don't regret it

It's another brilliant TV show cut short by the ineptitude of the heads of FOX programming.

It's almost worth owning just for the Joss Whedon/Nathan Fillion commentary on the pilot.

I just rented the first dvd from netflix. This is a great series. I wish someone else would pick it up. Pretty good acting, nice array of characters, and it's more dramatic than sci fi which is a good thing. It had more potential than Enterprise for sure. So sad :(

It's mentioned again indirectly in "Objects in Space", when the two of them are on the catwalk, so no.

Yes, it is worth $35 for the series. I think it's a great series, especially when you watch it in it's proper order (and the unaired eps). Fox really had a knack for messing with good shows. *shrugs* I'm looking forward to the movie, if they ever get it together. So many loose ends to tie up.
