Is finals time a bad time to stop smoking?

Usually I pick up smoking around time of finals to destress. I haven't smoked in a few days though. I find that it's getting harder to get through the day because sometimes around this time of the day I get what feels like withdrawls.

It's really disruptive to my productivity. Should I postpone this until after finals?

I pick up dipping around finals time (IE: now). It really helps to relieve the stress and I can dip while I study.

I don't dip nearly as much any other time of the year.

You might be trying to tackle too much at once, yeah. Silly as it may sound, I'd say keep smoking till after finals :p

What the f**k. Are you people retarded? Smoking during finals to destress? Dipping? Didn't your momma tell you not to do that sh*t and if she didn't are you too stupid as an ostenisble adult not to get a better coping mechanism like slacking off or eating or something. I don't understand why people who managed to get out of the stupid teenage years don't realize they're playing with fire.

I dip. I know it's bad for me. It does help relieve stress. I don't give a shit what you think.

That pretty much sums it up.

He didn't come here asking for a diatribe on how bad smoking is or a rant berating him and questioning his intelligence. He has an addiction and is wondering if having to go through nicotine withdrawl along with other problems associated with quitting is going to drastically effect his studying. Quitting now, or quitting two weeks from now.

Usually I pick up smoking around time of finals to destress. <- How is that an addiction?

Try reading the OP:

If he's having withdrawls, he's addicted.

It depends on what he means by what you quoted. I pick up dipping, but I still do it regularly. I do pouches and typically will do a single pouch a day on the way home from work or class. During finals, I pick up (or increase the frequency, pick up the pace) of dipping and will dip 2 or 3 times a day. I go from a single tin of pouches every 2-3 weeks, to a tin lasting a little more than a week during finals. While still terrible and while I'm still addicted, I'm thankful it's not as bad as a friend of mine who goes through an entire tin of long cut a day.

Not yet, you know it won't get easier. The reason I'm acerbic is because it's not too late for either of you to not end up at the hospital talking to doc about how best to treat the cancer you will then know you brought on fully and completely through your own actions.

yea, I was pretty much non-officially diagnosed with ADD, but cannot be prescribed meds (and thus I didn't get an official diagnosis) due to risk of losing a career in the army. So I have picked up a couple different things. This was all recently, so different things have all been experiments to see what will make next quarter a much better quarter than I've ever had.
Starting using ephedrine as a replacement for not having access to adderal, and that helps me focus. And I also just bought a tin of dip to see if it would be something that would help. Screw smoking, so I guess dip's the next best (still gotta try and find pouches, not really any in Ohio that I've seen. due to the process, they have less of specific carcinogen and are thus healthier for the mouth, but still posing a risk). and yea, the nicotine definitely helps with focus and the anxiety from finals (i get test anxiety, or in general, event-based anxiety). And while I don't wanna let this tin go to waste, I don't wanna get into the habit of doing it daily. I mean, I like the nicotine buzz but have a feeling that won't last and will get to the feeling of needing it. screw that, i ain't getting addicted to nicotine. lmao but we'll see. it'll probably be something where I buy a bin during the two-three week period that is midterms, and then again for finals week. the ephedrine should be enough on its own to get my through regular daily homework and whatnot.

Wrong time to kick the habit. Pick a time that will best allow you to succeed...you may want to just wait until after the holidays even if they are usually stressors in your life.
