I am considering upgrading my hard drive and have read from everyone that Ultra ATA/33 or ATA/100 is the way to go...I went to look up the specs on my primary hard drive (bought in 98) and it shows on the product home page that its interface option is "FAST ATA-2". The drive is a 4.2 GB Quantum Bigfoot CY 5.25". For more info see http://www.quantum.com/products/archive/bigfoot_cy/bigfoot_cy_overview.htm

Now I have no idea if this is the same as ATA/33 or ATA/100. I am considering buying a SIDE RAID100 card that will enable me to add one or two FAST hard drives. Later on down the road I will take advantage of RAID features such as striping, etc. But for now am interested in faster seek times and access to data on C: drive.

I don't play games that much, but do mostly Internet browsing, Excel, Word and Photoshop. What else should I look for in buying a fast hard drive? Seek time ? Thanks for any help.

BTW, I'm running: Athlon 750 Slot A (non-overclocked), MSI K7Pro Mobo, 3 x 128 MB PC-100 SDRAM. Thanks.
