Is family guy appropriate for a 12 year old?

He won't get some of the parodies, but I think he'll like it. I'm trying to think of anything that may not be appropriate, but then again, they aired it at 9pm.
 
I'd lean no. Some episodes are fine but many are quite sexual (mostly Quagmire).

Funny as hell but pehaps a bit early for a 12 year-old, and yea most of the humor would be too obscure I'd guess.
 
12 year old? Pssh..yeah.

EDIT: Its not like he is a 6 year old or something. 12 year old boys have most definately seen some type of porn, drug usage in tv shows/movies, violence, etc...
 
im thinking that for a 12 year old there's probably something better to get (i.e. i agree with the above posts that he probably wouldn't get alot of the humor).
 
I don't know where you guys where when you were 12 years old..perhaps on another planet? Its not like "Family Guy" is incredibly deep and too difficult for a 12 year old to understand. I don't see how its innapropriate either, for someone of that age.
 
You're asking a group that probably thinks that by 12 years old, he should be whacking off to hard core pr0n.
 
No. The show contains a lot of racial obscenities. You don't want a 12 year old to go to school thinking that saying something prejudice is ok and funny. Even the mention of such things in school can land you a suspension.

But if you know your the kid is wiser than that, and knows how to handle such humar, then let him watch it.

I would hope most 12 year olds know its not right to say those things. I know I was mature enough to handle shows like "Beavis and Butthead" when I was 12, and not try and repeat the things they do and say. I guess the final word is, if your younger brother is stupid, no, don't let him watch it. If he is like any other normal 12 year old boy, I don't see a problem with it.
 
I know an 18 year old whose parents wont let him watch shows like that. He doesn't even have a tv in his room, and can't go on the internet past 10, and can't close his door. Don't be that parent...
 
Yes and no...some parts probably aren't the best for him to watch and he probably won't understand some of the humor.
As long as he understands it's humor and not something that people are supposed to do in polite society, I'd say it's ok.
