The IS-F looks like a clumsy effort to make a bland car look aggressive. IMO there really hasn't been a single Lexus that has really hit a home run in terms of styling, nor do they have anything approaching a consistent brand "look" (though they are indisputably excellent mechanically). I guess I'm just not interested in their 8-speed-automatic-equipped "sport sedan," even if it has vertically-stacked exhaust pipes and a gaudy white leather interior.

I like the styling of the IS and the interior is sweet but it's a little cramped and I'm not crazy about the front seats. It would be nice if they would at least offer a 6spd manual gearbox in the IS350. The car would be a bigger hit if they'd address those issues.

I think the IS350's are teh sex looks wise, but as you mentioned no 6spd and the inability to completely turn off their invasive electronic nanny system kill the car from a performance perspective IMHO.

I've heard that the 2008 you can completely disable the electronic nanny system. Then again, most drivers probably aren't capable of exploring the limits of most cars anyway so I can see why Lexus would put them in there. The auto rags complain about them so everyone who reads that garbage spouts it as if it were fact even though 95% of the people complaining probably would be better off with those systems on all the time anyway.

I must admit, if they offered a six-speed I would give the car a more serious look. I think the IS350 offers a really nice package and the looks wouldn't dissuade me, but the mandatory automatic would.
