is eating microwaved food bad for you?

Microwaves in general kill anything good for you in food. I don't think that it necessarily ADDS anything bad for you, though.

The first sentence of the first link is "The rise of widespread nutritional deficiencies in the western world correlates almost perfectly with the introduction of the microwave oven. This is no coincidence. " Right out the door, they are clueless. Repeat after me: Correlation is NOT causation. First rule of good science.

The second page is total conspiracy theory BS.

If you search around on ATOT, you'll find at least a half dozen threads debunking this, but long story short, there is NO known danger in eating microwaved food, nor is there a reasonable mechanism to think there should be a danger.

Microwaving food heats it unevenly, makes meat rubbery by boiling the water out of it, but it doesn't make the food unhealthy.
 
Oh and reading further, the guy claims broccoli can prevent cancer because of "nutrients". If that were the case, wouldn't EVERYONE be taking a pill made from broccoli at every meal and cancer be a thing of the past?

Microwaved frozen mixed veggies are much healthier for you than kettle-boiled water poured over cup ramen.

They need to look up the definition of radiation.

Like most young adults at the time, as microwave ovens became commonplace, I chose to ignore my mother?s intuitive wisdom and joined the majority who believed microwave cooking was far too convenient to ever believe anything could be wrong with it. Chalk one up for mom?s perception, because even though she didn?t know the scientific, technical, or health reasons why, she just knew that microwave ovens were not good based on how foods tasted when they were cooked in them. She didn?t like the way the texture of the microwaved food changed either.

WHAT THE FUCK? That's a reason not to use microwaves? That's in support of the claims that microwaves damage your health?

Nobody does suffer from malaria in the first world, and most curable and preventable diseases are cured / prevented. Obesity is an exception, but people do make bad decisions, especially when advertisement and a million years of hoarding instincts are involved.

Well technically it is true on some level. Most cooking processes do break down at least SOME (minimally) of the nutritional values of a food or cause it to leech out. But then again, I'm also not one for the added nutritional value of various colonies of E.Coli, etc. 🙂

Well technically it is true on some level. Most cooking processes do break down at least SOME (minimally) of the nutritional values of a food or cause it to leech out. But then again, I'm also not one for the added nutritional value of various colonies of E.Coli, etc. 🙂

IIRC, cooking lowers the energy it takes to digest food, so you get a fairly significant gain in energy value from eating cooked food.
