Is eating fruit a good idea when trying to lose weight?

I've been eating a lot of fruit for a year now and I lost 40 pounds. But concentrating on fruit to lose weight is a bad idea. It's about your diet in general and about exercise. If you eat fruit and still consume instant foods, soft drinks or don't run/swim/cycle etc., you will not really lose weight.

In my opinion, one shouldn't make a science out of it. Just use common sense when shopping, cook more yourself, eat in moderation and only when you're hungry and go out and be active. That's it. Doesn't take a genius or a PhD to lose weight 😉

#1 most important thing in weight loss or gain continues to be calories. Always has been and will be. I eat fruit when dieting and can lose weight fats if calories are restricted sufficiently. I also eat it when getting fat and gain it fast if calories are abundant!

There's no magic food that when taken can stunt weight loss, or else soldiers, starving people, etc. could be fed on much lower calories as long as they consumed this magical thing. I've lost a lot of weight while drinking a regular bottle of coke and chocolate bar. Calories in vs out.
