Hey all,
I'm building a gaming rig and am unsure whether to get an e8500 or 6750 or 6850? I've hea great things about the6750 and it's overclocking potential, but the 8500 's speeds sound very attractive, price isn't an issue, it's all about quality and raw power.. I've been thinking bout quad but not sure if they're really in the running at the moment, heard there's been loads of issues with them.

Cheers for any and all help

the E8x00 have been a pain in the ass to get ahold of, but if you can get one thats not way overpriced I would say go for it. my e8400 OC's like there's no tomorrow, got 1 hr prime stable at ~4.2 but I run at 3.6 untill I get some WC this damn 780i board doesn't like 4ghz without crazy voltage :( . If you're not into OC'ing they use less power which is always a plus. I don't remember the numbers off hand but I think the 45nm chips are like 7% better than 65nm. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong on that.

If you can purchase an e8400 or e3110 for around the same price as an e6850 (or less), go for it. The e8400 is pretty much an e6850++ (same FSB and clock speed, just with a die shrink, SSE4, and some other small improvements).
