Just wondering if intel has plans to update the E2xxx line into 45nm process since they already done it for the Q6xxx->Q9xxx and E6xxx->E8xxx.

Apparently, yes.

Intel is planning on replacing the current 65nm Core 2 Duo 2000 series with a new 45nm series series called Core 2 Duo 3000. The series will sport 1066MHz FSB, 1.5MB L2 cache (a quarter of 6MB) and the first model of the series will be Core 2 Duo E3140, which operates at 2.13GHz. Price will be $75 in units of a thousand. The first shipments should arrive in June. The high multiplier and attractive price will most likely make it a very attractive toy for benchers and people looking for the most bang for the buck.

nice! the E3140 running on 266 FSB has an 8x multiplier, probably get one when it has a 8.5x or 9x multiplier and push to 4ghz easier. But I think at $75 a pop the E3140 isn;t too shabby of an upgrade either. At least 3.5Ghz. Time to do a small upgrade of my oldie E2160 E2.

thanks for the info harp!
