Is Dune the best SF series ever?

The stuff not written by frank herbert sucks massively and denegrates a great series. I agree that it became weak on the last novel or two, but even those were better than most science fiction. I guess it's the best I've read, but only because I don't read a lot of full series. The plot itself was not as good as the world he created and the way it inspired the imagination.

Ender series was not good, not even close for me.

Zahn's star wars books were mediocre. Entertaining but not exactly brilliant or well written.

Hyperion was good. Weird, but good.

in terms of Science Fiction series... I'd rank the Dune series as the best, followed closely by the Hitchhiker's Guide series. but there are singular novels (Brave New World, Stranger in a Strange Land, War of the World, and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea all spring to mind) that are better than the best singular Dune novel.

Heh... I was about to come in and post that the Hitchhiker's "trilogy" is better 😛
