Hi everyone,
thank you for your help beforehand
The question i have is whether a Dual Layer CD/DVD burner is the same as a Double Layer CD/DVD burner?

Also, if you are familiar with NEC ND-3500A, would you know if the OEM bulk comes with the driver and whould you suggest me to buy it?

Thank you

Double Layer/Dual layer are the same thing. The proper name is Double Layer, companies are just not using the correct terminology which is confusing because the word 'Dual' should only be used to describe a DVD-writer which is 'Dual Format' (ie writes both 'plus' and 'minus' formats).

As for buying OEM drives, go ahead and buy one. The retail box simply costs more and you don't get a driver for it anyway - XP uses it's own drivers for optical drives. I haven't seen a driver-disc supplied with any optical drive since the days of Windows 3.1 - they are redundant now. The only differences between OEM and retail drives are that OEM one's don't come in a fancy box, usually don't include screws or data lead, and consequently they are much cheaper.

I agree, my friend has an NEC (single layer) and loves it. I'm using a TDK single layer, I'll probably get a double layer once dual layer disks are ~$2 each, by then the drives should be under 50 bucks.
