<< That's the reason it's not in the manuals, so you experience first hand what F'ed up is. >>

From what I remember, college orientation seemed to give you a manual on almost everything. I remember spending long hours listening about alcohol, sex, and a ton of other stuff. The thing is, like with college class and then work, you don't really learn anything until you experience it.

may i suggest alka-seltzer after heavy drinking? I notice my dad feels a lot better then i do the following morning after some heavy party drinking from night before~
>>

I've tried that before. It does nothing that aspirin, lots of water, and a few tums can't do. Besides, it tastes nasty :p

<< why can we not be sober? >>

that too.

but if not: drinking water is important (be carefull though, wjat Elita1 said is very important ;)), also fatty foods help to prevent hangover, and try not to mix drinks, especialy drinks containing lots of alcohol with bubbly stuff (alcohol + CO2 = :disgust::Q:frown::eek:) ;)

Has anyone mentioned a good dose of vitamins sometime during the day before a hard night of drinking? That combined with proper hydration and a decent meal prior to drinking has not only allowed me to handle my liquor better, but I wake up in much better shape than when I don't.

<< or don't pee (your choice), >>

Not at all true. Once your bladder has received fluid, it will NOT recirculate back through your system. It it actually very crucial for this to be true, otherwise you'd be pretty ill all the time

Your friend probably gets hung over a lot.

The trick is not to guzzle water like a fish. If you're sober and start taking down water like a fiend you'll still feel like crap, so why would be filled with alcohol and water be any different in that regard. If it's too late and you're already hung over, screw water, start nursing a beer calmy and a b-complex vitamin. Afterwards, start drinking water at a normal pace. U'll be right as rain in no time. My quick cure tho was always flapjacks and honey(prolly more cuz I like pancakes tho), a multi-vitamin taken with water, and a lighter beer(not light beer), something like an India Pale ale or if I had nothing better, a heineken cut with water. Then again

Drinking 36oz. of water before hitting the sack following a night of heavy drinking was the best advice I've ever gotten :D

it's supposed to be one 12 oz glass of water per drink. If I find that to be hard to do. Any more than 4 beers I'll have at least 1 glass of water. I'll even sometimes drink some water while I'm drinking, I've never had a problem doing that. If your stomach is upset, there's nothing you can do about it anyway. Drink as much water as you can stand before you go to sleep. It helps. Drink water the next morning, then go have a breakfast/lunch that has a liberal amount of grease. Hashbrowns, eggs, pancakes and bacon or sausage is a great recovery aid along with a big glass of OJ. If you wake up late enough, anything with french fries, or pizza is wonderful. This to me, is almost as important as the water the night before. The food soaks up any alcohol that is left in your stomach, and I always feel alot better after I eat.

Is there any evidence that mixing your drinks makes you any more drunk?
I've heard this since I was 17, but always thought it was an Old Wives Tale.
