Is DELL gonna come out with new LCD monitors for 2006??

I really want to buy the 2405fpw. But with the sales they have recently been having I'm guessing that they will come out with new monitors soon?
I know they came out with new tvs but what about new monitors? People have been hoping that dell would come out with a 30" competitor to the 30" apple cinema display. While I don't see that happening I do see them coming out with perhaps....a 27" high resolution monitor?

What do you think? Any former dell employees here willing to hazard a guess? Should I wait? Or should I just try to buy the 2405fpw now.

2007fpw=20in?
2405fpw=24in?
3007fpw=30in?

just wondering what the actually changes are besides offering hdcp support would it be worth waiting for a 2007fpw over a 2005fpw?

edit: googled this.

I would say yes it's worth the wait even if the only changes are for Vista compliance, which I doubt highly.

I notice you put question marks after the model names. Can someone confirm the size of the screens for those models? And when will they debut in the US approxiamately?
This is very important. :(

Well these models dont exist (atleast not yet), so good luck finding any specs, prices on them. If you are looking for the 2005FPW, get one as its not that costly ~$350. However if you are planning to get the 24" then you could wait and watch.

Yeah I could wait and I think I'm going to. But according to your guys information there will be a 30 inch model coming soon next year. That I think I would wait to buy. Now lets get something straight here please so that its clear in my mind......
That new 30inch model will not be a low resolution tv correct? But it will be a high resolution monitor is that correct?

If that is the case then I don't think the specs will be THAT important....at least to me.
The only thing to consider really is the price. Dell suprised the market by coming out with a 24 inch monitor with a suggested retail price well below the competition and it has only gotten lower since then. Hopefully that trend will continue with the 30 inch model.
I mean, the apple 30 inch display is great but its very frustrating in the fact that its designed to work best with mac hardware. Plus it had a ridiculously high price.
If Dell can manage to come out with a similar product that is more friendly towards PCs and sell it at a reasonable price then geez they will have another winner! :)

And even if it doesn't turn out to be something I would get then perhaps the 2407 might be worth waiting for as well. ;)

Depends on what you consider reasonable, I'm guess at least $1500 for the 30", and if you are a gamer you will need some serious GPU horsepower to push that thing at native resolution.

No problem there man I've got it covered. :thumbsup:

I have a feeling that an nvidia 7800gtx will do the job. And if not certainly two of em in SLI. But from nvidia's site I think one will do. And this monitor will be more pc friendly than the apple 30 inch for sure.
But I want some more info by a recently fired and disgruntled ex-dell employee. We should get some hot info then. :D

Well....apple is selling their "one of a kind" 30 inch hi res monitor for around $2500.00. So if I can get a similar product for about what you said...$1500.00 then I would definately get it. Although I would go as high as $1700.00....maybe $1800.00. ;)

It's the resoulution of both those monitors. But I think he was trying to point out that you wouldn't be able to play games very well at that res.

As for the unit itself if the top resolution of the new dell 30 inch for 06 is 2500x1600 then great. At least it confirms that its going to be a high res monitor and not just a low res tv.
But as for games I would just lower the res to say maybe 1900x1200 I think that would still look good for games. It would certainly look better than 1348x768 of a similar sized lcd tv.

I'm hoping to see some specs comparison between the 2405FPW and the 2407FPW. I'm curious if it worth the wait.
