Colors are more vibrant, text is much more crisp and I can't see any ghosting though some people that are really sensitive to it may be able to spot it a bit. The only downside to this monitor is that it is notorious for having blacklight bleeding and I had to do around 4 exchanges to finally get one that had none.

Loved my 2005fpw. Absolutely no ghosting that I could see (I do know what ghosting looks like, horrible on my friends 19" Samsung) and the picture quality is just awesome. Definetely recommend it to anyone.

Does anyone have the Gateway monitor mentioned above? I only ask because I'm curious if it really outperfroms the Dell. I've seen a lot of monitors that have great specs but look dumpy in actual use.

Yeah if you plan on running SLI/Crossfire ad infinitum, otherwise you will be playing CS against life sized Terrorists. :p

Edit - oh yes the 2005 is fantastic, I would hold out for the new model if you can though.

For AOEIII, the 2005fpw is a great monitor.
For FPS, it's a no-no, and I am a owner of both the 2005fpw and 2405fpw.

I plan on getting a 2007FPW for fps why do you say that the 2005fpw is bad for fps it's better than a 2405fpw.

What?? I play FPS games almost exclusively and the 2005 FPW is a fantastic monitor for those games. If anything, the 2405 is much worse for FPS games than a 2005 due to it being restricted to 60 hz (mouse lag).

Couldn't agree more. Never used a 2405FPW, though I had assumed it was similar to the 2005FPW. However, the 2005FPW is a top of the line LCD that can play FPS's with ease. My experience with it is that there is no noticeable ghosting when you actually play a game on it. I'm not talking about looking at 3Dmark tests, or running a video game test. I'm talking about actually playing a game.

IMHO, the very people who always mention ghosting as a negative for LCD gaming usually have never used a high quality modern LCD or have never used the LCD model being mentioned. Playing games like Farcry, CoD2 and Doom3, as well as having used it for games like EQ2, I can say that the Dell 2005FPW is an excellent monitor for FPS gaming.

The 2005fpw actually is a higher grade panel than the 2405FPW just to tell everyone its based on a S-IPS panel while the 2405FPW is a S-PVA.

In terms of viewing angle and color shift, but not contrast, and not necessarily in speed (panel alone doesn't account for overdrive). It's hard to say really. There is no one panel that reigns supreme over every other in every category.

Response time and contrast ratio crushes the Dells. More expensive but I'd give this a close look if I were you.

Just redisplaying this. Not sure if its a better panel or not, but it is HDCP compliant. And if you ever plan to watch HD movies and get Windows Vista, you will need that. Unless you want to gamble on someone cracking HDCP. hardware copyright protection. (good luck to the crackers lol)
i have heard the Dell is an awesome monitor though too. And its cheaper, and if your not worried about HDCP and watching HD movies on Vista, it should be fine.
