I'm havin' an incredibly hard time telling myself that this is LEGIT!

How in the WORLD can they offer say ONE THOUSAND accounts @ 3.90/YEAR that's $3900 for one year. Now, the transfer rates are what again? around 200-300K? and they said that we can have 6Gb/mo... right? I dunno, does this all compute? Maybe this was already asked in the other thread, but HOW can this guy offer this kind of SPEED, SPACE, and SERVICE @ such a low yearly price? I can't help but think that this guy is just going to go bankrupt! I mean, REALLY, think about this...it's so easy to scam like this, from what I understand. If he was selling a "product" perse, he could be sued for the value of that product, but the catch is he's selling a service, and only a promised service @ that. I mean, really, it's only $3.90. But to think of this many people getting ripped off @ ALL makes me SICK! I would just want to know this guys address U know?/ SOMETHING more definate, I guess.

It's just so easy to go out of business and take the $$$ and RUN! All he's out is ONE month of service from a highbandwidth ISP, the cost of a machine w/ about 100-500Gb of HD space (5 100Gig WD's could be had for VERY cheap w/ dell's 50 off of 400 coupon lately)

Here's the research that I've done and it's all said WONDERFUL things about it.
(Then again, who wouldn't who's takin' the $3.90 bet???)

Does anyone else share my reservations? Please SOMEONE convince me that this is a LEGIT DEALIO! 🙂 I WANT HOSTING! 😀 hehehehehe

Thanks for listening...

not sure about the legitness, however, i can tell you about the 6 gig a month. that isn't much at all, i use about 1 gig a day on average, and by no means am i a hard core web browser. i go through 6 gigs in about a week, client side. if you have a good site and many people go on it a day, you would be lucky to make it a few days before you ran out of your limit. however, if you just made a text based site i'm sure you would be fine 🙂.

yeah, I've read through a LOT of them, and I didn't see a whole lot of anything but the following typical responses:

"their answers to email take decades" (but it's okay b/c I only paid $3.90/yr)

"THE SERVICE IS GREAT, just use the IRC channel" (to this others respond🙂

"its usually full of kids who don't know crap" 😀 I think that this is "their" "site" 😉

So, to me it sounds like a TON of people who have TALKED THEMSELVES into this deal and convinced themselves that this service is legit. Nothing to aCTUALLY prove it... Then again, not that I know what would prove it... I dunno.

Dude, you're nuts. I don't see what you're really basing any of this on except for it being too cheap.

I've got a cyberwings account now (thanks to the hotdeals forum) It took a while to get it set up, but it works great and everything seems to work.

maybe I am nuts...but I wanted to see if anyone else was nuts too... 😉 I just dunno...I guess I could spare $4.00 and just SEE what happens, eh? 😉

isn't that what everyone else is doing?

C'mon Tanner, This doesn't seem like your first hotdeal so why're you sweating it so much?? Nothing ventured, nothing gained. If we listened to that voice called 'reason' we'd still be paying monthly installments on every item we own.

Also if it means anything to you, I find Cyberwings threads on that website dating as far back as Dec 2001, if not earlier. Many crappy hosting sites are lucky to make it 3 months.. I feel pretty confident that their business model will work out when they start offering the reseller accounts May 1.

Yep, if I lose $19.50 because they go under or don't deliver then I only lost $20, I'll chalk it up to a "learning experience".

i dont know about cyberwings.. but the way they are offereing it that cheap is that its probably costing them less the 400 bucks a month to operate per rack unit. THe ip addresses are all stacked, so each new domain is on the same IP address. Pretty much anything else is unlimited. You can put as much domains on a rack unit as you can, as long as it doesent crash. And since its plesk they use, its prolly just cheep, x86 boxes running redhat, (free + hardware (400 bux initial cost)

why are you calling it a scam? How the hell could they scam someone? You pay by paypal, they cant drain your account or anything.

There are plenty of satisfied customers, including me. If you have a basic on which to challenge their integrity, then post it. If not, then stop accusing the company of ripping people off.

I've had an account with them for over a year. The only reason they're having the occasional problem is that they've more than doubled their user base in a few months. I've had absolutely no problems with them ever.

It's only 3.90. Risk it like everyone else. I got my account at the the beginning of this month, it's great.

well, I certainly appreciate all of your responses! Thank you all for your helpful information.

I found this especially helpful, as I hadn't seen their business model, or heard of it, and certainly wasn't able to ascertain it from what I read, so I find this really helpful. Furthermore, the fact that you noticed the Dec2001 is even MORE helpful, as I did NOT see that. 😉

I rekon that I'd better go ahead and just sign up for this stuff then, eh? 😀

Again, thank you all for your opinions and helpful information! I guess I'll venture this one small loss for the opportunity to post some pictures and have someone go to a .com or whatever I register 😀

you get what you pay for.

People selling under cost don't tend to offer great service, for very long. 😉
