Is CS:S worth it?

Is the gameplay and new textures and whatever else they have done to update this game worth it to purchase HL2?

gameplay is essentially the same, as far as appearances, the game looks 1000% better. If that appeals to you than yes its worth it. The physics are a nice touch too.

Let's lynch him!!!! 😛

I only played 1 day of the HL2 single player mission since I bough it last week.

That game made me so sick that I feel like throwing up after an hour of gameplay, so I decided to stop playing it for my own good.

::sign:: I wish I can play it also, I guess HL2 doesn't like me.

It's really good and the physics actually changes the gameplay a bit. For example, people have found how to block doorways and create cover using the filing cabinets in Office. The only downside is that the game isn't done yet. You don't get to choose your skin yet and there's a bug where you start jerking around whenever another play bumps into you.

I think it's great... but whether it's worth the price of HL2 if HL2 wasn't included? I'd say no.

My biggest peeve with CSS are all the idiot players who seem to populate all the low-ping public servers for my connection. Lots of cheaters too. But just the general idiocy is a major PITA.

this has been a sourpoint of counterstrike for a while. valve has really dropped the ball on this. anyone else check the hardocp article on cs:s and valve's abysmall caretaking of the game ? If they would get off their asses and take care of cheating, bugs.. etc. Polish the game off with eliminating such as well as adding in all teh missing maps it would be excellent. Valve really owes us this, as counterstrike basicly gave half life its longevity in popularity and actual usage. If not for cs, hl would of fallen somewhat into obscurity. Cs is after the all, the most played fps at any time and still today, and in fact, if you combine all the players of every other online game, it still does not add up to the counterstrike player base. Impressive.

yes, the graphics are excellent, the sound is excellent and yes, the game play is still excellent. really nice hearing those bullets thwack into different materials, seeing the dust come off the bullet hits on walls etc. was sick of the broken 3d audio for old cs .... i've played more hours of cs source then hl2..and err cs old i havent touched since.

I don't know that the entire price is worth css alone, but don't worry, hl2 is the best game ever made. Doom3 was great, but is nothing compared to this. CSS has much smoother gameplay than the old one, the physics are great, the graphics are great. My only problem is, it doesn't come with a great deal of good maps. I loved the user created ones like iceworld and scoutzknives, but they havent been ported yet. Thank god they ported de_dust though, I would've been mighty angry at valve.

I miss some of the mods that were present for CS (thankfully I still have my old CS account) like hookmod, warcraft 3, etc. I also really miss the Nipper maps (I got stuck on them from playing on Wroaw's server so much), so hopefully they'll release them soon.
