yes it is a very good brand.

corsair and other brands uses crucial chips. i've heard somewhere that corsair's pc2400 is using crucial chips.

crucial is the brand but its own by micron tech. and micron tech selld ram chips to other brands like corsair, mushkin and others.

Just as a follow-up to the previous post, there was a recent review (can't find it now), where the top RAM was tested. Corsair came out on top by a slim margin over #2, Crucial. Mushkin was #4 I believe. If I find that review I will post it here. That is what I remember from it. However, the difference was very small between Corsair and Crucial.

Corsair uses the same chips.
They just use better quality control.
pc 2400 is not an offical standard its just picked over 2100 that is tested to run at 150mhz.

Actually, Corsair and Crucial use micron chips ;)...hence, the MT marking on the chips.

Does crucial not use Infineon chips?
And is true Corsair is the high performance division of Micron.

Actually, Corsair use CL2 Micron chips, while Crucial is still using Micron's CL2.5 chips. There is no quality control edge for either brand...they are both top of the line.

Looks at her crucial 2100 ddr.
Hmm.. says 75 on the chip so a 7.5ns chip.
You must mean corsair programs their spd for cas 2.

Micron has released two 7.5ns DDR chips...one is rated for CL2.5 and their newer chips are rated for CL2, but they are both 7.5ns. Also, at some point, Crucial will be changing over to the CL2 chips, and their PC2100 will essentially be the same as the Corsair. I have already emailed them about this and they said they will be moving to the CL2 chips soon.

Crucial does give the best bang for the buck. However I noticed that Mushkin now has the PC2100 High performance that is CAS 2-2-2. I don't suppose that was reviewed. Probably beats the crucial now. However it is $122 for 256MB.

Bang for the buck - Crucial.

Never had a failure yet unlike Kingston, Generics and APACER (junk)

The extra dollars spent on HP ram IMHO is just not the way to go for speed.

i bought a $40 stick of Micron PC2100 - 256mb. has the same MT chips on it as the crucial PC2100. does cas2 at 170mhz on my 8K7A (16-8-2-6-2-2). sandra ALU/FPU - 780/1021. all is stable and happy. highly recommend any DDR with Micron chips.
