Hello people, I am shopping around for memory to put in my new Asus A7N8x delx. I was just wondering if Corsair 256 2700 is worth the $20 difference over the Crucial stick?
Thanks :)

Are you overclocking at all. If not then I would stick with the crucial and keep your $20.

A lot of the Power Brand overclocker RAM sets are built with Samsung Chipsets.
Why not just get the TRUE Samsung RAM, as it is usually less than Crucial and
has slightly more perfromance overhead.

True Samsung is Samsung chip on Samsung board. The Samsung PC2700 sold by Newegg is Samsung chip on 3rd party board.

Don't know who sells TRUE Samsung Pc2700.

NO! Newegg is listing the Samsung PC2700 as 3rd party made just with Samsung's true PC2700 chips.

"Samsung Original DDR333 PC-2700 256MB CAS2.5 - OEM Version"
Even the photo is just a generic photo now, it used to be the real Samsung memory module with Samsung's sticker.

Get the Crucial if you plan on overclocking (Yes I said Crucial). That may seem opposite of what everyone is telling you but remember...Corsair caters to overclockers only. Their pc2700 RAM is top of the line and will work at pc2700 speeds but it was made and designed at the time when only pc2100 RAM was available. So you're getting pc2100 chips guaranteed to run at pc2700 speeds. However with Crucial you're getting pc2700 chips that just may run at pc3200 speeds or above.

Edit....

I just noticed you were running the Asus nForce2 board. You actually should be running pc3200 RAM. Since your board has the PCI bus locked at 33mhz there should be no problem getting the RAM up to 200mhz. In this case I would recommend Corsair pc3200 or pc3500 RAM

Look Above ! EDIT = SAMSUNG SALES - DIRECT

* NOTE TO LostHiWay = I tried some Sansung TRUE to replace Crucial, and saw may performance fall.
Back to Crucial - that's all I will EVER purchase again Direct from Crucial Factory
Too many games being played by too many second and third source vendors.
How do you beat a LIFETIME waranty?

Is the 2700 enough if you only plan to OC a bit or would you suggest getting the 3200?

Is there anything wrong with the Kingston chip that Googlegear has on sale?

I would have gone with the Corsair memory, even though in actuality, there wouldnt really be a difference. But hey at least the Corsair comes with a heatspreader that doesnt do a whole lot, but still looks cool.
