Picture on the box looks like an Acer (maybe a CRW1610a?). Don't know if what's inside looks like the pic.

OM here in Austin substituted the HiVal 16x10x40 with BurnProof for the $39 (no rebate) 12x ones featured in their Friday sale. They have Nero 5.5 but I can't tell who manufactured them.

The one I got from Office Max said 12x10x32 outside, but was happy to see it was a 16x10x40 burner in the box.

I can't tell what model it is. The "system information " shows it as "cdwriter 1610".

If it's a "Lite-On" , it doesn't look like the DVD drive I have from Lite-On. The front looks different.

I'd like to know what model it is too.

By the way.......how can you tell the 16x10x40 model is "burnproof"?

No it isn't the Lite-On

I bought a 16x Que a couple of months ago and it is a Lite-On. I bought the 16x at OD Friday(substitute) and they are nothing alike. I haven't installed the Hi-Val yet, but I can tell by just looking at it that it isn't the lite-on. Oh-Ya-the Que that I have also says Lite On on the info sticker on the actual drive.
