i just signed up for comcast cable (78 channels) and 6 mbs internet for $36 for the first 6 months and around $56 after that. they do not advertise that price as i signed up through comcastoffers.com for $66 a month for the first six months and then found out how cheap it really was when i setup the installation.

Try the $15 basic/local package first. I've never not gotten the rest of the regular basic channels on that.

Me and my buddy have like every channel and pay $160 a month with internet. So something is up with yours.

Its time for them to let each person choose which specific channels they want now. It has gotten rediculous. The bulk of the payment for extended basic is for freaking ESPN to which I NEVER watch.

ROFL, do you use the splitter trick? Our internet is $45 by itself so i dont know how your getting both for $50 unless your splitting the NET line to a splitter like i do my room ;]

Call and tell them you want to cancel. They'll give you a nice deal to "retain" you. Right now I get extended cable (with a digital received for on-demand) + 6Mbps internet for $65. It'll last until I move and then I'm going to satellite. I can get a 5Mbps DSL and satellite for $60, and that DSL is a lot faster than my current cable modem. Nice thing about DSL is even if it is a little slower as far as top speed, you have a dedicated line and don't have to worry about it being dragged down by gubber-snuff down the road who's trying to download the internet. My average download speed on 6Mbps cable modem is about 300KBps, which equates to around a 2.5-3.0Mbps connection.

What satellite/dsl provider offers that? I would gladly switch from comcast. Last month I paid $14 for the most basic of cable and internet, and for some reason this month the bill is like $90+. Comcast can feel free to kiss my ass.

They recently took over here in north Louisiana and took it as an opportunity to raise rates on everyone. Lucky for me they're honoring the old Time Warner rate for my particular digital tier, supposedly until the end of the year, otherwise I figure I'd be up in the $130 range. If you're already using VOIP, I guess you can give the $99 package a shot. They've had a lot of problems with phone service (and DVR, and digital, and internet) down here since the takeover, but that doesn't mean anything for you, other than adding a little more anecdotal evidence to the fact that Comcast seems to suck no matter the location.

I would seriously consider DSL at this point, but I'm locked in to Comcast until I move out, my money-grubbing apartment complex made an exclusive deal with local cable to provide standard+internet to every apartment and include it in the rent.

If all you want is FX, maybe you should explore the "pay for basic and not complain if 0-100 accidentally show up on my TV" option.

99.9% mof the time a simple call and being nice as you say you've heard all these promo offers they have going, and you're paying more than that, and the nice CS person will drop your rate.
but no swearing, and don't say "shut me off" thinking they will ask why, and entice you to stay.
one must ask for what one wants, as far as Comcast is concerned.

Qwest (prices may vary by location). The base satellite package is $40 and the internet is $27, so I guess it's actually $67 plus taxes/fees. You can pay a little more (not sure how much) and get a 7Mbps if you want. Look under bundle deals and you can get satellite, 7Mbps internet, and phone service for like $97 if I remember correctly. Again, this is for New Mexico, but the price is the same here in Utah right now too, so I can't imagine it varies too much.

I live in Utah, so that offer should apply to me. Which satellite provider has that price?

Looks like it DirectTV. Here's a link to Qwest. Go there a you can click on bundle and save and either use one of their's or create your own. I don't think you can create on without local phone service though. If you click on DSL, prices start at $27/month. You can do the same thing for DirectTV, prices starting at $40. You can obviously get bigger and better for more, but that's up to you.
