I don't know if he's gay, but I know the show sure is. The music industry already is like a machine, spewing out manufactured "art" that is carefully crafted to match the preferences of focus groups, even as the industry shapes those preferences by their advertising. American Idol just strips back the cover of the whole process and we get a direct look at how they create demand. They put on this sham of a contest, which is not really a contest of talent, but a way of creating a star. At the end we have a "winner," (who was probably already chosen by the producers long before) who's reward is getting to make a record, which the industry knows will be snatched off the shelves. Why? Because this musician appeals to American music tastes? No, because they have artificially created a demand for this guy, and now they milk our fickle devotion for all it's worth, cutting a platinum single in the numbered days before this "star" goes cold, as he surely will very soon. I hate it; the music industry is making shat milkshakes and pouring them down our throats.
