Is Citizen a good brand for watches?

I've never in my life owned a gold chain or nice watch. I walked into Zales yesterday because I saw this guy on display. I was stunned by it's looks and I kinda feel like buying it.

Citizen Watch.

Zales wanted about $10 less, but the glass was flawed and I didn't want it. I read a few reviews and it's useless at night, but I really like the design. It's stainless steel too, and I don't know if that will be bad for my skin or not. I think, but don't remember, I might be allergic to metal on my skin for long periods.

It will be a 100% impulse buy. Here's a douchebag showing the watch in person.

Citizen Eco-Drive watches are good. Just expose it to light/sun and it'll run for months.

its a good watch for indians. they love it and send it overseas for relatives

lol, I kind of believe you. I saw some Movado watches, but all I hear about them is how it's the brand of favor for <insert race here> guys who come into a little bit of money.

In laymans term, Movado watches are for ghetto people who got a few dollars.

I'm wondering if Citizen watches are the same. I never thought of them as being so expensive. And yeah, I know there are far more expensive brands.

See, I'm sort of seeing the Citizen-Indian connection too. I think a few of my family have them. I want to avoid stereotypes. :\

I rarely wear the Omega. I wear my $30 Timex digital watch almost daily. :D

citizen makes very good and respectable watches. while not "luxury" watches, they are very well made and are on-par to seiko; affordable but solid watches.

seiko is one step above citizen in ranking. I owned both and citizen has more prolbme than seiko. Seiko does not have problem.

Ah. So that stereotype is true then. It pops with me too. I guess I'll stay away from Citizen. Any good place to research watches?

watchuseek.com

it can get very expensive very quickly though if you are looking for something better

Citizen Eco-drive is a good watch for everyday use. I wouldn't pay more than 200-350$ though, but that's just me. I have one that has lasted over 12 years without any service.

I've since moved on to a different watch, but that is because I started becoming more interested in the handwork and craftsmanship aspects of high-end automatic watches (and not really for a more accurate timepiece).
