So my wife comes back from the chiropractor and says that they are recommending for my 3 year old and 1 1/2 old they get 'tune-ups'
I don't buy it they say it leads to them having more colds, other health problems etc.
I say BS, kids get more colds cause they haven't been exposed and devoloped anitbodies to the many hundred varieties of cold and flu bugs out there.
OR
Am I wrong?
Enlighten me. . .

I think 3 and 1-1/2 is too young, but I'm not against chiropractic adjustments. If I had to pick a starting age it would be no younger than 12.

my cousin's a chiropractor. he says that it's not necessary from kids to come in because they're still growing, they can take dings and reajust better then adults. its more important for adults since their bodies stop growing and their bones are more susceptable to wear and tear.

Complete BS. Kids get sick by being around each other (daycare, preschool, kindergarten). They don't get sick because their backs need "tune-ups".

Chiropracty is a lot of flim flam. You might as well send your kids to an aroma-therapist.

It is impossible for chiropractics to do anything more than relieve aches and pains, maybe inflamation. Anything more is like saying I can make a pizza with leeks, a pie crust and a stick of butter.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that you've never had back issues...

After 10+ years of working on cars for a living, my back is not healthy... I suffer(ed) from back spasms and there were days when I literally couldn't walk.
I've been to general doctors, back specialists, and orthopedic surgeons. None of them did any good for me. I ended up going to a practice that was run by chiropractors, massage therapists, and physical therapists.

I went to them regularly for about a year, and I have the opinion that those guys can be miracle workers. My back is infinitely better now. They tought me so much about how to take care of my back... Stretching, exercises, posture, etc.

But I think it's fairly ridiculous to say that healthy children need to go.

1. Ignorant statement.

2. You've obviously never had Chiro treatments.

3. Chiropractors are generally licensed, so if they were fake, why would they need to be licensed?

Chiropractors may be able to help some people with back and other pain.
But most people do not need a chiropractor and anyone saying that chiropractic treatment will have an effect on getting a cold are definitely quacks trying to scam more money from you.
Sometimes, chiropractic treatments cause dependence on future treatments.
It is a profession filled with scam artists.

EDIT: Changed "often" to "sometimes" since I have only anecdotal evidence of this.

Have you ever gone to see one?

I went and I never got dependent on it. The treatments really helped me out. Its better than going to a doctor for your back pain. Doctors just give you medication to hide the pain for a few weeks, then when you run out, the pain comes right back.

I agree with three of your statements. Not sure about "Often, chiropractic treatments cause dependence on future treatments.", though...

After a treatment, my back felt quite a bit better. But after a few days it would go back to not feeling right again, making me want another appointment. So, the feeling better made me dependant on more treatments, but I wouldn't say that the work they did caused my urge to revisit. I just was no longer satisfied with my back being out.

(Not sure if that mini-rant made sense, now that I read it again. *shrug*)

Well put, with one small caveat: If you are having legitimate back problems, you may have a greater chance of catching a cold because you are under stress.

There's a "physical" side to the profession, and there's a "mystical" side to the profession. The "mystical" ones are more likely to be scam artists.
